Faby and Paula

Meet the Makers: Faby & Paula

We're a mother-daughter team from Pembroke Pines, FL—and we're both survivors.

Faby survived abuse years ago with the help of Women in Distress. Paula left an abusive relationship in 2022, with the support of her rescue cat Lucky and Faby's unwavering love.

Together, we channel our experiences into creativity, healing, and giving back.

Our Full Story

It started as survival. Crafts By Chala was born during the 2020 pandemic as a way to cope, create, and find purpose during uncertain times. We made soaps, learned new crafts, and discovered the healing power of working with our hands.

Then life happened. We paused the business to focus on what mattered most—getting through each day.

In 2022, everything changed. Paula made the brave decision to leave an abusive relationship. It wasn't easy. But with Lucky (her rescue cat and constant companion) by her side and Faby's unwavering support, she found the strength to start over.

That's when Crafts By Chala came back to life—not just as a business, but as a mission.

We know what it feels like to need help. Faby received support from Women in Distress when she was a survivor herself. That organization gave her hope when she needed it most. Now, we give back to them with every sale.

We also support cancer research through the American Association for Cancer Research—in honor of loved ones we've lost and those still fighting. And because our rescue cats (Lucky, Tiger, and Princess, all rescued in 2012) have been such an important part of our healing journey, we donate to the Humane Society of Broward County and Broward County Animal Care.

Every product we make carries our story. The soaps are crafted with herbs we grow ourselves. The crochet items are made stitch by stitch with love. The resin creations are poured with care. And the custom orders? Those are collaborations—your vision brought to life by our hands.

We're not just selling handmade goods. We're building a community of people who believe in resilience, healing, and the power of giving back.

When you shop with us, you're part of that story. šŸ’œ

Our Furry Family 🐱

Meet the rescue cats who inspire our animal welfare mission:

Lucky — Paula's companion who helped her through the hardest times. He was there during the escape, the rebuilding, and every step of the healing journey.

Tiger & Princess — Faby's cats, both rescued in 2012. They've been part of the family for over a decade and remind us every day why rescue matters.
